  • Phillip Paiement

    Phillip Paiement

    Phillip is the Principal Investigator of TransLitigate. He is the Professor of Law & Governance in the Anthropocene at Tilburg Law School and currently serves as a co-Convening Editor of the journal Transnational Legal Theory. Prior to TransLitigate, Phillip’s research has focused on the role of private actors in transnational environmental and social sustainability governance.

  • Thalia Viveros Uehara

    Thalia is a postdoctoral researcher with TransLitigate, concentrating on the socio-legal analysis of large-scale land transfers and pollution cases of extractive industries. With a background in law, she specializes in international environmental, climate change, and human rights law, further enriched by her doctoral degree in social development. Before transitioning into academia, Thalia accumulated years of hands-on experience collaborating with international and local legislators, policymakers, and ombudspersons in Mexico, the US, and UK to address pressing issues in her areas of expertise.

  • Juan Auz

    Juan is a postdoc researcher for TransLitigate. His research concentrates on the climate change and pollution case studies, with a particular focus on litigation in Latin America. Prior to joining TransLitigate, Juan completed his dissertation on human rights-based climate litigation at the Hertie School (Berlin), co-founded Terra Matter and is the former executive director of Fundación Pachamama.

  • Rebecca Fenn

    Rebecca is a PhD researcher for TransLitigate. She focuses on biodiversity and conservation litigation. Before starting the PhD Rebecca worked at the Paris Hub of the Future Earth Secretariat. She holds a master’s degree in Environmental Policy from SciencesPo and completed her bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Sustainability Studies.

  • Fabio de Sa e Silva

    Fabio is Associate Professor of International Studies and the Wick Cary Professor of Brazilian Studies at the University of Oklahoma. He is also an affiliated fellow of Harvard Law School’s Center on the Legal Profession. He has studied the role of lawyers in social and political change in Brazil and comparatively. His coedited book Global Pro Bono (Cambridge, 2022) maps the worldwide development of free legal services to disadvantaged clients provided by private lawyers. Fabio advises the TransLitigate team on issues pertaining to the ethics of transnational public interest litigation.
